I kinda wish there was a way to program my TV to flip to a different channel when the Orioles are in the field.  I don't want to watch the pitching.  And then it automatically turns back to the game when they're up to hit.

Why?  They won’t compete for three years. When they do Davis will not be in the org.

I will bet you any amount of money that Davis is not on the roster for four years if he continues to be as bad as last season.  If he continues to be bad, and stays on the roster....then without question, the Orioles rebuild will still be inching along when Davis' playing contract ends.

Baring a miraculous turnaround, I don’t see Davis making it through 2019 on the active roster.

I'm just curious as to what the tipping point will be for them to keep him on the roster.  Will any kind of improvement buy him some more time?

If he's as bad as last year, I don't see him making it through 2019, either.

Unless ownership forces the issue.

Davis might be the first point of contention between Elias and ownership.

I think three years in a row of being beyond terrible will be enough for the Angelos sons to follow whatever Elias's recommendation is.  I'm not expecting any kind of significant improvements, but if they do happen then yea I think that buys him some time.

It's already a sunk cast. At some point, they can't afford to keep carrying him (even if he's sitting on the bench) at the expense of a player who could help us in the future getting some experience.  The FO and ownership has to understand that.

I agree.  I hope for that, at least.  I was just more wondering like...if he's hitting .180 with a few bombs, is that enough?

I believe FO understands the situation you outlined.  The brothers haven't done anything to make me think they're dunces, yet.  Hopefully they aren't afraid to make a change.

Just curious what that's based on.  Not trying to be a smartass (for once, i know).

I think Long is already having an impact.   Davis couldn't hit or bunt to the left side last season.  He has already roped two singles to left.  His swing might be a little more level this season.  There is not really enough data to know yet.   I think this is Long influence though.   He appears to be a well respected hitting coach.  I liked what he said at Fanfest.
