WNST Propaganda Texeira/Burnett

Roll Tide

Recommended Posts

Just listening to WNST driving down the road. He said that John Texeira's father has said that Mark will go to the highest bidder. So if true would mean that he has been sold on the Mercinary mentality by his agent. Do you think this help or hurts the Orioles? If the Orioles would be willing to be the highest bidder it would help. It would also help that it doesn't appear to be important that we will likley a sub .500 team.

They also mentioned that Burnett is telling those close to him that he will be playing for the Orioles next year.

Cant provide a link ... But anyone else listening certainly heard the information above.

I think we would benefit from both players coming here. Burnett may be an injury liability some say, but you cannot deny he has a big time arm. He is the vet that could anchor any staff. I would not, however, sign him to a ridiculous deal.

I think the O's will do what needs to be done to sign Tex. Angelos wants him, the fans want him, it is as good as done I think.

I thought Tex going to the highest bidder was sort of stating the obvious. Anyone shocked by this?

If we get Burnett, it better be on the cheap.

Yeah it is obvious. Plus he will go to the highest bidder, and with some incentives thrown in too.

Why won't he go to the higgest bidder?

Some here assumed that if there was a small difference in offers that Tex would go to a winner over a sub .500 team ala Konerko.

It was discussed in other threads about the difference between 10 & 12 million per season. And with that much money you'd think there would be some other deciding factors. Winning team/Losing Team, Location Location Location etc.

I don't think anyone should be surprised by Texeira going to the highest bidder. With Boras as his agent, this is hardly a shocking development.

With that being said, I can still see the O's being the ones willing to pay the most. Unless the Yanks, Mets, or whomever makes it some insane amount, it's still very possible (perhaps even probable) Tex is wearing orange and black next season.
