You can, I don't.

I buy heavy duty bags with a seal so the air can be removed.  Some folks vacuum pack them.

You can use ziploc bags and allow the pressure from the water to remove the air.

The bags are reusable to a degree but I don't bother to clean them out most of the time.  They make silicon ones that are designed to be used over and over but I've never tried them.
