When you have a three man bench, one of whom is a backup catcher, there's only so much you can do in terms of benching guys.

Right with all the data at their disposal all the ML teams are simply enamored with radar gun readings.  ?

Who threw 100 when Maddux was pitching?  Johnson?  Maddux had an above average to average fastball the majority of his career.

We've been over this a lot and velocity is very important.  Heck look at Means, a big part of his current success is that his fastball has ticked up a couple MPH this season.
