I remember in the late 70s, the Athletics were just beyond horrible. I think I remember a sports illustrated photograph with the caption that 214 people had showed up for the game.

I think either Matt Keogh or Rick Langford went something like 2-20 one season(I know I could look it up, but I’m just going off my own memory right now) Boy they were awful, just awful, and I think they remained awful for quite a long time. A very long time,  as a matter fact they may have been pretty awful ever since.

I hated that two out double steal  idea.   Run expectancy with 1st and 2nd and two out is .429; 2nd and 3rd is .580.   If my math is right you’d need almost an 80% chance of success for that move to make sense.

Villar and Broxton on base doing that would make sense. Mancini and Sisco? Not so much...
