    • Dam the mosquito is in my Jelly. Please go away
    • Elias is refusing to spend money that Rubenstein has made available.  Do you have any sources?
    • Outside Hamilton, I can't really think of any areas or invidivuals outside the line that have really stepped up.  Humphrey and Stephens have played okay but it certainly hasn't offset the complete zeroes that Eddie Jackson and Marcus Williams have been.  I don't think you want to pull Hamilton off SS even though he can handle deep zone assignments fine, because he's essentially a linebacker that can cover wide receivers and there's too much value in that in the box.  And I think that Roquan/Simpson look lost in pass coverage because the safeties behind them are playing like butt.  Besides Roquan wasn't ever really a great coverage safety, he was kind of okay at it but he was never like a Lavonte David or Fred Warner there.   I'm starting to wonder if we need to either trade for a FS and/or start giving Ardarius Washington more snaps.  He certainly doesn't look worse than Jackson/Williams at this point in his limited playing time.  In general i think safety is an undervalued position so we're likely to get good value in trade.
    • That’s just it … I don’t have to concede. He is a terrific athlete capable of doing some amazing stuff. It’s just he makes terrible mistakes at some really unfortunate times. Don’t care about the stats… he had his MVP trophy while watching other teams play for the trophy that really matters.    25 seems high. Would they want him at his inflated salary?    Sure there are guys who never win a Super Bowl. But all the personal achievements don’t matter if he underperforms in the big games or makes costly mistakes.
    • I think looking at Wins Above Average (WAA) by position is a fun way to explore how to improve the team. RP 24th in WAA SP 15th 2B 14th 3B 13th The Orioles were top ten in WAA for all other positions.  Important to note: RF was 7th in WAA, so important to replace that productivity in RF.  Also of note, Baltimore was 6th in WAA at 1B. The Mountcastle platoon worked well there, despite Mountcastle inducing hair pulling in most fans on a pretty regular basis.    Improving the pitching staff should be the primary goal. The current bullpen did not pitch well. I think they need another, very good back-end RP. The SP needs to at least tread water, but improvement would be good.  I suspect the Orioles will hope that Holliday takes over 2B and Westburg moves to 3B. Solidifying RF should be a high priority. Hopefully Mateo is healthy as a middle infield backup, otherwise improving the backup depth should be a priority IMO.    Despite the late season swoon and bad WC at bats, the team is top ten at most positions.
    • Understood. Thanks for clarifying. I don't hate the approach. As long as we are looking to make serious improvements I am all for it.
    • I don't really see O'Neill as cost cutting, it would still require a larger contract than Elias has given out yet. I mainly meant lower cost than Santander in particular. This is assuming Santander can get a 3-4 year deal but O'Neill can be had for less years and total $, which I think is likely and makes more sense for the O's in terms of how they allocate.  On the SP side I'm hoping the O's play closer to the top of the market.
