Ynoa or Eshelman/Wojo

Eshelman is down right now but can come up in time to start the fourth game after the break, or Wojo can, or Ynoa.

Ynoa has been tried and found wanting, but he's a warm body. Not leaving unless someone better comes along.

I have two questions:

1) Who takes over as #5 starter for now, Wojo or Eshelman, and 2) how likely is it that one of them could supplant Ynoa?

according to Hyde from Roch's Blog

Hyde said Wojciechowski, who’s out of minor league options, is staying in the rotation.

“After the break, we’ll pencil him in there,” Hyde said.

Too bad for Gary Thorne (assuming he has even more problems with Wojciechowski's name than he does with Encarnacion and Santander). Who knows, it might drive him into sobriety.

Probably just call him Wojo.

But wd he pronounce it like a Spanish name? I think he'd prefer it.

Ok so Wojo takes over #5. Can Eshelman bump Ynoa?

Given that most Orioles have no "Track Record" it would seem that pitchers would need to earn rotation spots and then strive to keep them.  Eshelman had earned another start but since it isn't needed until after the all-star his twenty-five spot is needed by others.

I don’t think we need to be in a big rush here to bump folks just for the sake of bumping them.  I’d like to see Eshelman and Wojo get more starts, but we’ve had 14 starters so far. There are going to be plenty of opportunities in the second half. Decide based on roster needs, options, etc., not just cause “we know what he is already.”

Maybe, not consider that Ynoa has already had more good starts as a ML starter this year than Eshelman's one good start. Ynoa has also had a few stinkers, but I'm just saying the sample for Eshelman is basically as small as it can get.

I don’t know that Ynoa has pitched himself off the roster like Hess and Straily did. Baseball’s a game of adjustments. He started off really hot, baseball figured him out. He turned in a good start last time out. I think he should get a chance at the bullpen before should he get removed from the rotation. There’s plenty of time for Wojo and Eshelman to get starts in the 2nd half.

They are all going to be needed to get through the rest of the season.

There is a good chance that Cashner is traded before August 1st.

That’s a good point.

Does it really matter since they're just placeholders to hopefully get thru the season?

No it doesn’t really matter, but it’s interesting. And consider: on a scale of 10-100, with 90+ being our goal, if most of our guys are hovering around 7-9, and we have a chance to add a 13, why not? It won’t change anything but it remains an improvement, and my original queries were about whether E or W was more impressive and whether either of them could bump Ynoa.

either way, we’re still a 50-win team, but we’re losing 6-3 instead of 20-3.

Also, Rogers went on 60 day now I'm sure. He had the surgery.
