I can’t believe we didn’t take a look at him last year. We were a train wreck with pitching. 

Within a week, Elias brought in 3 guys that had success in the IL and PCL. Eshelman, Brooks, and Wojo. Let’s see what they can do mentality. I don’t think it was spin rate driven. More like we need innings.

Impressive!    His breaking stuff had great late movement yesterday.    Still, he got away with some hard hit balls, especially in the later innings.    Hyde picked the right time to pull him.

Really?  That's incredible considering all the complete games pitchers got in the 70s.  Where did you discover this fact?

Yeah, that's weird because Wojciechowski's game log has yesterday's outing as a game score of 84.

That was a great performance, but 9th all time while only going 7 1/3 just doesn't sound right to me.

Strikeouts count for a lot in game score.   Personally I’d prefer a complete game shutout with fewer K’s to a 7.1 inning shutout with 10 K’s, but I’m certainly not complaining about Wojo’s outing.  

Edit: Just saw BarclaySouthway’s post indicating the game score was 84, not 94.     That seems more likely.

Yeah, it's 84.

50 (base) + 22 (22 outs) + 6 (completed 5th, 6th, and 7th innings) + 10 (strikeouts) - 2 (for 1 hit) - 2 (for 2 BB).

Ah, not to beat a dead horse, but I can't help myself.  Perhaps, Ruiz misread Wojo's game score as 94 instead of 84?

Jim Palmer had 12 starts with a game score higher than 84 from 1973 to 1976.

Clearly something like that happened.    

Erik Bedard had a 98 in the game where he threw a complete game 2-hit shutout, striking out 15 without a walk.   

Mike Mussina had a 98 in a 2000 game where he 1-hit the Twins, striking out 15 and walking 2.

Does anybody else think it’s interesting that we’re discussing the exceptional game score of a guy who is a career minor leaguer with about 100 career innings?

You look at the pure stuff he was working with last night and it feels like the answer is "of course he can", but sometimes guys just get locked in for a game and that's it. We'll see.
