Having a highly ranked farm system is not an end unto itself.    I’m glad we’re moving up faster than expected, but we still have a very long way to go before we put a competitive team on the field.

Looks like in 2021 when the Bowie pitching is in the majors the O's could become competitive.  Maybe not a playoff team but a winning team.

I’m investing a lot of hope in that group.   It may be asking a bit much to ask it to produce a rotation full of guys who are ready to be solid major league starters by 2021.   Some of them won’t make it, others probably will take some hard knocks first.    But at least they represent some light at the end of the tunnel.

If we get one quality starter and a could of solid relievers from that group I will be happy.

Organizational rankings are a little fickle though.

Post draft next year, we could theoretically be “worse off” in the minors due to players losing their prospect eligibility. Mountcastle, Hays, and Akin for sure. Possibly Diaz and Harvey. Then some of the SP in Bowie.

When you successfully graduate players to the MLB are you really worse off?

We will be better because we will add another roughly Rutschman equivalent prospect.

It won't make anyone here feel better, but every fan base feels the same about Law. He's a negative guy.

He's a very stubborn guy and needs to see a ton to deviate from his initial thoughts. That's not necessarily a bad thing but it leads to a lot of misses. For instance, he thought there was practically no way Chris Sale could ever be a starter.
