I really want to keep Villar (Update: Traded to Marlins for LHS Easton Lucas)

Disappointing but need to see what happens next. I want to see this team adding talent and not dropping it. For me the Elias honeymoon period is over and he needs to start adding through means other than just tanking and getting a high pick. Tired of having to get excited for coaching and staff hires, as important as they are, as opposed to actual players that play baseball.

I'm less optimistic for a Bundy return and I wasn't particularly optimistic in the first place.

The fact that you think this cratering is a plan and not forced on them given the circumstances, show that you haven't been paying attention. This is the beginning of the process to get to a new system, not the middle of it.

Agree to disagree on how much attention I pay. If the team is forced to make a profit of $40 million instead of $31 million, I disagree with the strength of that force.

What? Forced on them that they can't keep an $8 million per year player when they payroll is $100 million cheaper than it was a couple of year ago.

When you can play a player for $1 million dollars that has the same value to the team, perhaps more since #1 pick is essential for this team, there's just no reason to pay more than that. Other teams obviously see him as a 2 WAR player anyway judging from the trade interest.

Payroll was obviously inflated for a couple of years from Angelos desperately trying, and miserably failing, to get a ring before he died. Pendulums gotta swing back some time.

Do you know something we don't know? ?

If I think I can get something worth 10 bucks for eight I will.

Elias has made zero trades since taking over. Including Cashner for a couple of bags of balls. He's done nothing with the international money. He doesnt get credit for Rutschman as anyone couldve made that pick.

Now he's proved he can't get value out of trading our best player

The Orioles arent broke and hinting such just weakens your argument

Despicable ...... From one cheap controlling owner to another. To a bunch of worthless moron GMS to another.

DFA a 3-4 WAR player over money! Just plain stupid!

I couldn't disagree more. We're not playing for next season, we're playing for the future and Villar isn't part of that future. They tried to trade him and no one bit, which is exactly what I said would happen earlier in the year. It's not worth picking up his contract and running the risk of getting stuck with him if the market doesn't heat up. VIllar is a very flawed player with some baggage and the rest of MLB knows that.
