Anyone got nine more years? ...

Nats opened the last decade by drafting Stephen Strasburg, Bryce Harper and Anthony Rendon in consecutive drafts. It took roughly 10 years -- and plenty of heartbreak -- to finally taste postseason success.

The Orioles are on year one of that process. I guess they get back to the postseason in half a decade.

I guess it depends on how you define post season success. It's going to depend on the young pitching in the Minors. I'd say Weams is pretty close with his prediction.

I think they defined success as winning a postseason series.  I don't think they value just getting to the wildcard.  No one could have thought that DC was successful prior to this season.

Screw the Gnats. Please don't use them as an example of anything related to the Orioles.

The general assumption is that both teams are comprised entirely of human beings, but I think that a counter-argument can be made.

Thats true most any year. Baseball is a fickle spot.

The one year, the Orioles had 1st for almost the entire season. Prediction was last place, and nobody thought the Yankees and Red Sox would both suck that year.

The year the Royals won it, most of the "expects" did not predict them.

The Nats have  been over .500 every year since 2012 and have won 90+ games five times in that period with five postseason appearances.  They were basically done with rebuilding in 2012 and have been strong contenders ever since.  Postseason failures and successes have more to do with hot streaks, injuries, and luck than design.  A typical postseason series is a .625 team against a .575 team; in other words a coin flip.  We will be very lucky to end up where the Nats are.

This.

Silly.
