Thanks for the thoughts, Tony and Luke.

I am interested in Placencia, Prado, and Hammer and seeing if they can develop into decent prospects.

Prado seemed to get off to a pretty decent start this last year. Hopefully he can build on that start.

Luke, you know I am a fan of your stuff but Cadyn Grenier has "flaws in his bat" is a huge understatement.   Without looking it up, it seems like he struck out close to 40% of the time.  I don't see him reaching AAA.

A big part of the K rate is that he’s such a late count hitter who also made a swing change. He has room to be more aggressive and reduce that if it continues to climb.

He’s got a hole he needs to fix, but he can hit spin, he can play middle infield, and run a little bit. It’s not exciting but I his chances just about as much as Mason McCoy.

I think the issue is that he was an overdraft, if he was an 11th rounder we’d be interested in the guy who could play some SS and had a 120 wRC+ between A/A+ in his first full season despite his flaws.

Good call on Placencia. I kept noticing him in the box scores. Really interested to see how he progresses.

That is an unfortunate name.

The cellist for whom Dvorak wrote his cello concerto was named Hanus. That’s a Czech name, but if I’m pronouncing it correctly, that is also a very unfortunate name.

Rheinhold Jockitsch was also saddled with a change-worthy name.

Another wasted pick. I was initially encouraged that the team drafted a glove guy, but it turns out his glove isn’t good either. Oy!

Great stuff, as always, I’m interested in your thoughts about where the 1st/2nd year follow guys will be placed next year, particularly the ones who played in the DSL last summer.    For example, does young Acevido jump to the GCL, or does he stay in the DSL another summer?    What about the others?

If you look at the GCL team from last summer, there wasn’t a single DSL graduate under the age of 20, except for Ricardo Castro, a 19-year old who got promoted to the GCL very late in the season and played only 5 games there.    I’d venture a guess that just about every other GCL team had several 18-19 year old DSL graduates playing a full season for them.

My parents went to a wedding where the groom’s last name was Fangboner.

    • TEX went for Kyle Higashioka, so a guess is they didn't love their Carson Kelly experience, at least not enough to chase him if Kelly is aiming higher than what d'Arnaud/Higashioka got.
    • On that note if we are somehow able to unlock 2021 Trevor Rogers somehow what’s the best outcome comp? Max Fried?
    • Something to keep in mind will be who they add as a RH OF. If that player is more of a full time type say like O’Neill as opposed to a platoon type that has an impact.   Would think the better quality of OF added the easier it is to trade O’Hearn.
    • Terrible. Which means they won't listen and they'll implement it.
    • On top of how stupid it is, it sounds like Yankees Welfare. Oh noes, Juan Soto is leaving and the Yankees lineup is going to be Aaron Judge and eight scrubs again? Let us help!  Terrible idea.
    • And MLB has this position called DH too. They don't usually have to field. I'm not concerned at all about his defense but to say he should be sent down and just ignore the bat just makes no sense to me. I have yet to see a good argument especially knowing that we saw guys like Cowser struggle and come up and be fine.  And we saw Gunnar ok in his first short stint but then suck...and Adley sucked for about a month. It just happens to most of these guys but people seem to have a short memory about all of that for some reason. And we aren't even saying that Mayo needs to make the team and play 160 games. Maybe that happens but that should not be the plan entering the season.
    • True, he did say: So you're correct, they BOTH won't be on the OD roster...and yeah, apparently they can't get better in the offseason.   Or during the season.   I understand the complaints about Mayo's defense but I don't see why he can't get better at 1st base.  Mounty wasn't spectacular when he started there but he's fashioned himself into a gold glove candidate.  He's actually really good. But the possibility exists that Mayo will never be a good defender no matter where he plays on the diamond.  Even if that's the case, as long as he's bringing great value with the bat and putting up solid to great WAR seasons, that's what matters most.  No players are perfect, many of them have a hole or two in their game.  These things said, I'd rather have Mayo working on defense at the ML level...you know, the level he's supposed to be playing at.
