Caleb needs to come home

To the organization that he had been with for 11 years until 2019.   Though management has changed, with the O's for the fans Caleb is still family.  

He was draft on the 7th round of 2008 and spent 6 years in the O's minors.   Called up in 2014 went Matt Wieters was hurt, he stayed with the O's for 5 years.   He went on sabbatical  last year to Arizona but he only played 20 games in the majors.  He  had a 806 OPS in the PCL.   He is currently 33.

For much of his major league  career he was mentioned was a future coach.   Always talking to Buck about strategy, he is bright, outgoing and a team guy.   The time has come for him to be a player/coach and share some of his knowledge with the next group of O's pitcher that will be at AAA this year.

If he signs a minor league contract he can be called up if needed and optioned back to the minors.  Though he does have the right to refuse the assignment back the minors because he has 5 year of major league service.   

Come home Caleb.   There is a place for you here.

Why would we sign a veteran catcher who can't hit and isn't great defensively? Maybe coach, don't know about the player part.

I'd prefer no connections to those teams that were the perpetuation of our competitive window. It's a new year, a new deal. Out with the old. Give me a bullpen catcher from driveline.
