Dodgers' implosion?

Very interesting situation to watch.

No team has underachieved more IMO...They should have walked away with that division title especily after the Rockies fizzled out.

Coletti is gone i am sure....White promoted to GM? Or maybe Ng?(i think that's her last name)

They have contracts they are going to struggle to get rid of and this year they couldn't take on salary.

So, my guess is they are going to have to find some team take back some salary.

They are reportedly one of the front runners for CC as well.

I think they will make a play for BRob as well.

We should try our best to get Kemp from them this Winter.

I would love a 1-2-3-4 next year of Roberts, Markakis, Kemp, and Wieters. Or even Markakis, Kemp, Wieters, Tex, Huff.

Yea..Kemp, McDonald and DeJesus are at the top of my list...I keep reading in BA that DeJesus probably needs to be moved to second, so if that is the case, he can come in and replace BRob.

As good as Kemp is going to be, I would rather get another guy if we trade with them, unless we are then sending an outfielder somewhere else in a separate deal. Jones, Markakis, Scott, Montanez, Reimold is already a potential crowd. We need pitching and IF help a lot more than Kemp.

I am hoping that they blow it up a bit (minor leaguers) and make someone available. With Torre there they may try to make one strong push instead of hanging on hoping for the young guys to come through like they have been.

What I don't want to do is take on a god awful contract. I don't think AM will do that anyway unless the talent coming back with it is absolutely unbelievable.

Well now they are kicking arse. They just beat the Dbacks to take the lead in the division.

Oh, the glories of divisional play. The Dodgers "arse kicking" has vaulted them into a tie for the 7th-best record in the NL, 15th-best in the majors.

I wouldn't hesitate for a minute in firing Colletti, and replacing him with someone who doesn't run all transactions by Bill Plaschke before completing them.

I hear you. They didn't make the rules though. Getting into the playoffs is the goal and right now they are in. Who knows how it will finish but for now....

The two games I saw DeJesus play this year here in Jacksonville he was at second. Was wondering why...now I know.

Hottest teams in baseball right now (ties sorted by overall wpct):

Astros 9-1Blue Jays 8-2Dodgers 8-2Red Sox 7-3Mets 7-3Nationals 7-3Angels 6-4Reds 6-4Mariners 6-4Rays 5-5Brewers 5-5Phillies 5-5Yankees 5-5Indians 5-5Tigers 5-5Athletics 5-5Royals 5-5White Sox 4-6Cardinals 4-6Marlins 4-6Rangers 4-6Rockies 4-6Giants 4-6Padres 4-6Cubs 3-7Twins 3-7Diamondbacks 3-7Braves 3-7Pirates 3-7Orioles 1-9

If the Cubs continue their funk, things could be interesting in the NL Central.

The Brewers had their own short losing streak last week, but managed to get at least partially well playing the Padres.

Not much hope for my Cards sneaking in; they're behind both the Phillies and Brewers for the wild card, 5 games back of the Brewers. Their season could be over if they roll over for the Cubs in this series beginning Tuesday.

Good pitching matchups in that series in St. Louis:

Tue, Sep 9 Lohse (13-6) Dempster (15-6) Wed, Sep 10 Looper (12-11) Harden (9-2) Thu, Sep 11 Wellemeyer (12-6) Lilly (13-9)

Lohse shut out the Diamondbacks for 6 innings in his last outing and left with a 3-0 lead, but his bullpen blew it. Dempster gave up 3 runs over 7 innings and took the loss against the Astros.

Looper shut out the Marlins and had a 1-0 lead when he left with one out in the 8th, but the Cardinals closer surrendered a solo home run in the 9th and the Marlins won in the 11th. Harden only allowed 2 runs (1 earned) in a win over the Phillies, but threw 100 pitches in just 5 innings.

Wellemeyer allowed 3 runs through 8 innings. The Cards tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th and won 5-3. Lilly got pounded in his last start, allowing 5 runs in just 2 innings in a 10-2 loss to the Reds.

Brewers ought to win 2 of 3 against the Reds, starting tonight. They face Volquez (16-5) in the 1st game, but go up against a rookie with only 1 previous start in game 2.

Sabathia is the starter for game 3, so we can practically give that one to the Brewers; Arroyo has a 14-10 record this season, but he's not in Sabathia's league.

Back to the topic of this thread. :) The Dodgers are off on a 10 game road trip to San Diego, Colorado, and Pittsburgh. The only pitching matchup which doesn't favor the Dodgers is probably the 3rd game in Colorado against Cook (16-9). Starters for the Pittsburgh series aren't posted yet at ESPN.

I still think the Diamondbacks have the edge in pitching and Dunn probably gives their offense as much of a lift as Manny does the Dodgers, but Webb has been stuck on 19 wins for a couple of starts now and Arizona hasn't been able to exploit their pitching superiority against the rest of the league.
