#50THANNIVERSARY

On this day in 1970 the Orioles went to D.C> and beat the Senators 12 to 2.  Dave McNally allowed 7 hits while walking 2 and striking out 4 in a complete game victory that improved his record to 11-5 on the season.

Don Buford had a day at the plate: 4 for 5, 3 runs scored, 1 HR, 3 RBI.  He is slashing .579/ .667/ .789/ 1.456 with 4 RBI and 2 SB on the road trip.

The highlight of the game was Frank Robinson's 2 for 4, 2 Runs scored, 8 RBI effort that featured 2 grand-slam homeruns.  He hit one in the 5th inning off of Joe Coleman and the second in the 6th inning off of Joe Grzenda.

Gentile in 1961.  The first NL player to do so, believe it or not, was a pitcher, Tony Cloninger, of the Braves.
