I know we had some discussion of this rule before the season started, but I can’t find it.

Having now seen it in action, I’m a fan.   Both LeBlanc and Hyde said they liked it, too.   Obviously it worked to the O’s advantage last night, but could hurt them on some other occasion.   But I’m in favor of not having extra innings drag on too long.   Maybe not in the postseason, but I think it’s good for the regular season.

I like it for this year.  If it is being considered long term I would like it to happen in the 12th, I think.

This is about where I am too, maybe the 11th.

Regular season games shouldn't wreck your bullpen for a week.

If you don't like it, you should have outscored them in the first nine innings.

I guess I'm more of a traditionalist, but if the goal was to not have super-extended extra inning games, I would have rather have brought in tie games in the regular season (say, if no one wins by the end of the 12th than it's a tie) than this.

It just kind of comes off as beer-league-softball goofy to me right now.  Maybe it'll grow on me later, who knows.

New rule:

From 13th inning onward, each team has to pull a position player.

I'm obviously kidding, but it did help bring some sandlot games to a close faster, anyway. ) ;)

That would be interesting for the home-plate umpire if a team decided to pull the catcher.

Even more interesting sandlot rule:

Penalizing hitters pulling the ball, ie not going to opposite field or up the middle.

I don’t like it, but I like 16 inning games, which is perhaps not normal. I like marathon games in any sport. I think the Caps-Islanders Easter Epic left a scar on my psyche.

If your goal Is just to get the game over with, there are a lot more fun and interesting ways to do it. NashLumber can provide consulting.

I like it after seeing it Saturday night. That was very exciting! EVERY half inning was suspenseful. Of course it could be brutally painful... but still would be edge of your seat baseball.

MUCH better to be the home team. Even more so than the traditional format.

If you guys want a sport that looks largely like it did in 1870 there's always cricket.

Except they have added two new varieties of Cricket in the recent past so make sure you tune into the right one.

I don't think you saw this back in 1870.
