I don’t get it this is technically an official game and yet this game gets resumed on Friday while doubleheaders are only 7 inning games in 2020.

When the Yankees won their first game of the year, it was only a 5-inning game because of rain. That game was not suspended, it was called with the Yankees winning it.

Why is this particular "tweak" of the game different than that one ??? In both instances, rain caused the field to be unplayable.

It's after 5 innings. Game is over. Or it should be.

So double headers get shortened, but games that would normally be called complete because of weather are continued at a later date in a different stadium.

This is Bull Durham "I'll get us a rain delay" level nonsense.  If they'd just turned on the sprinklers and allegedly couldn't turn them off, that's a reason to get a mulligan and rest for the bullpen instead of losing an official game?

I know this is really cynical but if they are calling for a 2 hour downpour have your crew mess up and blame them you couldn’t play if you are trailing after 5.

Why do we have to play the rest of this game? It’s official, there’s no need to resume it, and the problem is because the nationals groundcrew is Auditioning for a role in the next Keystone cops movie.

Without grounds crew incompetence it would have resumed. The grounds crew failures, not the rain was the proximate cause of not being able to resume the game, thus it is resumed at a later date.

It's definitely "weather-related". Weather made the field unplayable. If this is how they make these calls, then the whole league should have a new strategy when playing at home and a rainstorm is coming through when you're down a few runs.

The rule in question does state "unintentional".  Of course you have to prove intent.
