Boy, was Amsinger on MLB at lunchtime yammering about how the Rays might need Snell for 120 pitches tonight, getting stuff wrong that seems to be very obvious here.

The off days are back - the Rays have a near must-win tonight. The Dodgers are giving Buehler the extra rest for Game(s) 3/7, and are kind of/sort of just goofing off tonight. The Rays didn't get to use their Anderson/Fairbanks/Castillo "#1 Starter" last night. Snell was salty at the quick (to him) hook late in the ALCS, but he should be ready again tonight. I think that the Rays feel that he's their worst pitcher on a per-inning basis, so they aim to use him in the first 9 innings tonight.

Like his teammate )Tyler Glasnow, )Blake Snell )led the Major Leagues in Wild Pitches ...... but also like his (seemingly) wild-throwing teammate, he rarely hits a batter with a pitch. In his 5 Major League seasons between 2016 and 2020, Snell has only 2 Hit Batsmen in 556 Innings Pitched. ) O.o

Tony Gonsolin )has excellent raw numbers from the 2020 regular season. He had a 2.31 ERA and an 0.836 WHIP over 46.67 innings Pitched. And that's only a slight improvement from the 2019 regular season, when he tallied a 2.93 ERA and a 1.025 WHIP over 40 innings Pitched ....... he seems to be consistently excellent.

I gotta admit I had not known Will Smith led the Dodgers in OPS over Mookie and Seager from C.  Ensconced at 5th ahead of the reigning MVP against all comers, DH'ing when Kershaw needs his bestie.   He doesn't have the pedigree of the Posey/Wieters/Zunino/Bart cohort, but he'll give some slow playing catcher talking points if we get the long wait.

Charlie Morton  )is 3rd among active Major League pitchers in his career in avoiding giving up Home Runs ...... his career Home Run rate is 0.7629 Per 9 Innings Pitched.

Clayton Kershaw:  llll 0.6982 Per 9 Innings Pitched

Adam Wainwright:  llll 0.7302 Per 9 Innings Pitched

Charlie Morton:  lllllll 0.7629 Per 9 Innings Pitched

In 2019)Walker Buehler )led the National League in Winning Percentage, at ).778 )(14-4.) ...... in the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, he only had 1 decision (1-0.)

Walker's career WHIP over 365.67 Innings Pitched is a stellar 1.028.

Feels like Mookie could be Rickey if Mookie wanted to be Rickey (and could secure the Dodgers permission).

Would be nice to see Buehler have to try hard all season some season, but I don't think circumstance is likely to give that anytime soon.

Rays offense was a lot better v. LHP this year, so will be interesting to see if Urias doing the Corbin thing this year can really take a stardom step tomorrow against the fully rested Anderson/Fairbanks/Castillo ace.

For all that we're all in on the high spin 4S thing, I do notice Dodgers Treinen/Graterol/May all worm burners in key roles.

Ryan Yarbrough )is the antithesis of his 2 teammate)(Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell))in regard to Hit Batsmen ...... he led the Major Leagues in that category this past season, having plunked 7 opposing batters in only 55.67 Innings Pitched.

But unlike his teammates )(Glasnow and Snell), )Yarbrough has a very low Walk-rate ...... in the 2020 regular season, Snell's Walk-Rate over 55.67 Innings Pitched was only 1.940. And for his entire Major League career over 3 seasons from 2018 through 2020, his Walk-Rate over 344.67 Innings Pitched is just 2.141.

Urias might have had the star turn with a dozen or more K's in a full allotment, but the pull before Yandy on Batter #19 and 4 2/3 innings TTOP orthodoxy in its pure form.  But the bullpen is a chink in the armor.  Brandon Lowe repping for the Terps!

This is a hell of a game.

It's fun watching the best having to try their best.  MLB having gone full NBA this year we only get it now.

I think Anderson got squeezed on that 1-1 to Pederson to set up the rest of that at-bat; had Lowe been able to pull off that catch, it would have been maybe the greatest shift extra out ever.

Rays streak of leads after 6th inning now at risk, I think they may need Glasnow to get to 27 outs tonight.

For some reason this particular game is reminding me of the 1979 All-Star Game, a wild affair which the National League won by a score of 7-6.
