Snyder had the best year of the bunch, but if it's not Erbe, I think it should be Rowell.

I can justify that by valuing tools and upside. It's a different approach than I would take, but it's an understandable one. I still think Rowell is a better prospect than Snyder. While Snyder took a big step forward this year, his upside at first is solid but not spectacular. Rowell still has the tools and the time to become an elite player.

I completely agree, Rowell is still the better prospect, IMO.

He has a huge advantage over Snyder just because he plays on the opposite side of the diamond. I've seen Rowell play multiple times, he's already a decent defender at 3rd and has a chance to be very good defensively there.

I think its Erbe. As far as potential is concerned, Erbe's got a higher ceiling, and he's put up better stats for a pitcher than Snyder has as a batter.

Since this is a prospect's list (isolating who's got the highest potential--which is why Matusz is #2 even though he hadn't pitched for us yet), its got to be Erbe. Snyder's numbers weren't really impressive this season, while Erbe has put up really good stats.

Are we looking at the same numbers?

Snyder's season was very impressive, I don't think anyone is going to argue against that.

I thought it was going to be Erbe, but I'll be pleaseantly suprised if it is in fact Snyder, as I think his progression the last year and a half shows real promise. I am really excited to see how he plays next year at Bowie (I'm assuming that's where he's headed).

I think Rowell lacks the quickness and agility to be a good 3rd baseman. And you generally lose in those 2 areas after 20. Does anyone else who's seen him have an opinion on this?

I was one of the few (maybe the only) who thought Snyder was at least as good a prospect as Rowell going into last season, and now - there's no question that Snyder is better, imo. But as much as I like Snyder, I stand by taking Erbe over him.

I think Rowell still has the highest upside of the guys on the list - as much as I spent last winter carrying the Snyder banner.

To be the youngest player in the league for much of the season says a lot about Rowell. He should improved BB rates at times during the season and, by the end of the season, was putting up pretty good stats. I get the feeling the adjustments to Rowell's game and maturity are not so great for his statistics to really take off.

I am a big fan of Snyder and his last two months at Frederick were tremendous. We'll know more about Snyder's upside and possibly his ability to move to another position on the diamond after next season.

I'm very confident that he doesn't.

I saw him play 3rd base probably 15-20 times this year at Frederick, I firmly believe Billy Rowell can play third base.

I saw quite a few Keys games this year and my take on Rowell is either his is very slow or lazy. There were alot of balls that he should have been able to make plays on and didn't. I would really like to see him at 1st base next year.

    • Yeah I was thinking this might be good for both the team and Hays. Chance for him to press the reset button if nothing else.
    • Actually, if you think about it, as long as there is a right handed pitcher with this lineup, once Westburg bats, there will always be 8 lefties in a row after that. 🤔
    • Sending Jackson down does nothing, there is nothing left to prove down there. He is taking good ABs, he is working counts, he looks fine in the field etc. I have used the Cowser comp, not to say he should be sent down, in the sense that Cowser looked particularly lost at times during his callup last year. Jackson is facing some professional adversity for the first time as a professional keep running him out there.    The fortunate thing is he isn't hurting the team in a significant way right now, and when it finally does click the Orioles will be just that much better.
    • Actually move Westburg to 7th so there’s not so many lefties in a row.
    • I’ll go with: Gunnar SS Adley C O’Hearn 1B Tony RF Westburg 3B Mullins CF Cowser LF Kjerstad DH Holliday 2B
    • The question is, can he be productive playing just 1-2 times a week? We don't know because he's never really been in that role. Not everyone can stay productive in a part-time role. I think the Orioles will find a way to get him in the lineup 4-5 days a week. He can play corner outfield (except I would not play him in LF in Camden), DH and 1B. He still does not look great at 1B, but he can be serviceable if it means getting his bat into the lineup. That's a decent amount of ways to keep him and others fresh. Santander probably is at risk to sit a bit more than usual, but this also gives the Orioles an opportunity to have a very left-handed heavy lineup against righties at times, with Mountcastle sitting. The Orioles left-handed heavy lineup could be: 1. Henderson - SS 2. Rutschman - C 3. O'Hearn - 1B 4. Santander - RF 5. Cowser - LF 6. Mullins - CF 7. Westburg - 3B (R) 8. Kjerstad - DH 9. Holliday - 2B Imagine having to face that lineup and then have Mountcastle, McCann, Urias and Mateo for pinch running as a bench. Now don't get me wrong, Mountcastle is not going to be benched all that much, but Kjerstad could give Santander, Cowser, Mullins (with Cowser moving to CF), O'Hearn, Mountcastle, and Rutschman when he DHing a day off.  That's a lot of ways to keep him fresh and get his bat in the lineup.
    • If so, probably just for 2 days or so.
