It's Heyman so whatever. But no reason to think the Os wouldn't at least check to see if they can get a good deal. Pretty classic deadline trade kind of guy. Upgrade over Ruiz for sure.

Ultimately $4-8 mil sounds a little steep for the chance at a trade chip. And it's definitely too steep for simply upgrading the offense a bit in a rebuild year. Would I be for it? Oh hell yeah.

Ahhh, right.  "The ball is coming out of his hand nicely" is to @Frobby as "we can sign this guy in spring training and trade him at the deadline" is to Moose Milligan.

The idea that we could trade a guy who's readily available to anyone right now and get something halfway decent is laughable.

You don't like the idea of paying him a million so you can pick up a 17 year old Dominican at the deadline?

If Tommy Milone can be flipped for ANYTHING at the deadline like he was last year, anyone can be flipped.

Hitting in Oriole Park, Franco could certainly put together a nice few months to the point a contender in need of a #6/#7 hitter or that had their 3B go down with an injury would be willing to send us a B prospect or two. Franco has been a competent hitter for stretches several times in the recent past.

We traded a bunch for Gerardo Parra, who everyone in baseball knew was just having a hot couple months. But Dan Duquette was dumb and acquired a terrible rental, hurting our long-term outlook in the process. Still plenty of GMs out there who will be as dumb or desperate as Duquette was in 2015.

I said halfway decent.  Like Milone, we'd probably end up with organizational filler for Maikel Franco.  And that's fine, but I don't get why people would be excited about it or at the very least, find it interesting.

Anyway, unless I'm not looking at something correctly here, MLB.com straight up has the wrong stats for Franco:
