This isn't a guy that bounced around from team to team playing out the string.  He had a nice second career in Atlanta.  Why shouldn't he just retire as a Brave?

I think it would be a bit of a shot at the Braves if, after six seasons there, he signed a one day deal with another team.

By all means put him in the O's HoF and give him that day.

Honestly, I agree with this.   He played a good long time with Atlanta.   In fact, he turned down more money to re-sign with Atlanta because his kids wanted him to stay there.    I suspect one of the reasons he retired was that he wasn’t going to either be away from his family or move them just to chase another couple million dollars and another few hits.  Nice to see that kind of perspective from him.

He will always be known as an Oriole imo. His best years were here.  
 

Now, if he doesn’t want to retire as an Oriole, that’s fine.  But if it’s something he wants, I’m good with the ceremonial gesture.
