Francisco Liriano could be an interesting third lefty with potential for length out of the pen. I would prefer him to LeBlanc anyway.

Had this exact thought while reading MLBTR last night. I can't imagine Elias wouldn't rather have Liriano to LeBlanc, but you just offered him a ML contract. It would be pretty awkward.

Gosh knows it would be terrible if the O's did something awkward and potentially embarrassing.

I didn't say it would be embarrassing. In fact it would be pretty great - owning up and saying actually this other guy is probably better, see ya Wade. It would just be awkward for Elias to have that conversation with Wade.

Have someone else place the call.

Rougned Odor is one.

Odor is a very interesting player.  He seems like he was about to be a super star player after 2016 at the age of 22.  He put up .270 33 homers and .798 ops at that young age after decent years at 20 and 21.  Then had awful 2017 year before bouncing back with a 2.7 war in 2018.   He played in 800 major league games before he turned 26.

    • Why? He's not the most athletic outfielder, but the guy hit 45 homers.  I think they should at least try and keep the guy. Maybe not break the bank, but they should try and keep him.
    • I think I'm rooting for the Yankees too. I know I shouldn't but I had it up to here with KC teams beating Baltimore teams. KC have become Baltimore's daddy in sports.
    • I think it's got some merit but I don't know what to expect from Adley in regards to defense at first base.  Mounty has fashioned himself into a pretty solid defender at first base.  I'm having a hard time seeing Adley's fat ass being nimble and quick around the bag if I'm being honest.   You are right, a lot of it is timing.  But quite frankly, I'm good with carrying two backup catchers and waiting for Basallo if Adley were to move to first base.  IMO, catchers are here to call a good game, handle the staff, block pitches in the dirt, frame and steal strikes, do what they can to control the running game and provide leadership.  I'm completely over this wet dream of having a catcher that can hit after watching Wieters and Adley's 2nd half this year.  If you can luck your way into having a catcher that can hit, that's a bonus but it shouldn't be a focal point of building the team.  Here's hoping Adley can bounce back and be good with the bat next year and stay healthy.  Hard to believe he's dealing with nagging injuries that are effecting performance at age 26 but that's where we are.
    • I hate the Royals, ever since they swept us in 2014 and Jeremy Effing Guthrie dissed us.   They have great starting pitching and they have Bobby Witt.  The rest of the team is mediocre at best.  I think the Yankees will slaughter them.
    • I don't disagree that the bullpen has been a bit of a mess this year, but honestly, the bullpen did its job against the Royals. That's a good team and they held them to 3 runs over 18 innings. Considering they lost Bradish, Grayson, Means, Wells, and Bautista...I think they did pretty well.  The O's offense has to be better and more disciplined at the plate.  I think they need to clean house with their batting coaches. You can't have your best players up there swinging at shit like breaking balls that are way out of the zone. They also need to get a lot better at small ball and situational hitting. We had bases loaded last night and couldn't even get a run in. It's not like the Royals were blasting runs into the stands, they were getting on base, sending runners to second, and having strong at-bats to get guys in scoring position. This was a huge weakness for the Orioles this season. They were either scoring double-digits with multiple home runs, or they were losing because they couldn't manufacture anything.
    • We don't know that yet. The Royals have had an up and down season, but they are no slouches. I think NYY might be in for a surprise.
