OPENING DAY

Recommended Posts

This is one of my favorite shows from my childhood Saturdays.
It was never on at the same time on Saturday, so you had to just kind of check the TV guide on Saturday, But I caught it whenever I could.

I love the memories and I love this music, And ever since I found this on YouTube I have shared it on opening day.

GO ORIOLES.

Pre-Internet, Pre-ESPN, and when Cable TV was in its infancy ...... I would wait for mommy to bring home the NY Daily News on Sunday, so that I could check the weekly stats of all of the position players and pitchers in each respective league. I remember being really excited in April and May of 1977, when Billy Smith got off to a blistering start to the season with his batting average.

Speaking of years/times past, attendance figures at season's end in October are probably going to look like it's 1971 or 1972 again ..... there were 6 American League games played yesterday, and the Yankees' crowd of) 10,850 )was the 2nd largest of them all.

In 1971, the Yankees barely broke 1 Million ...... that was good for 3rd overall out of 12 American League teams that year.
