Who on our active roster/IL today will have the best career?

Chris Davis 11.9 rWAR*

Matt Harvey 10.0 

Freddy Galvis 8.8

Trey Mancini 7.1

John Means 6.9

Is it one of these five players who ends up having the best career of anyone currently on our roster (including the IL), or does one of the younger players surpass these guys when it’s all said and done?

No listing of minor leaguers even if on the 40 man roster.   

* Props to SteveA for reminding me that Davis was once a good player and that he’s on the IL.   I left him off this list initially.   I’m still having a hard time thinking of him as someone who’s had a good career, given how miserable he’s been the last four seasons.

LOL, you’re right!   He actually tops the list at 11.9 rWAR, which is down from 17.6 at the end of 2016.   It’s hard for me to think of him as having had a “good career” at this point, but I guess you have to give him credit for his good seasons.

I think it has to be between Means, Hays and Mountcastle. My guess is Means because of Hays's health issues and Mountcastle probably being a first baseman long-term

I guess Mancini could be a dark horse

Hays. Means has the edge now, but he turns 28 tomorrow. Santander also in the mix of course.

I’m going with John Means.

Boy there’s sure not much competition is there.

Means is the obvious choice but I’d put Santander second. He has injury issues just like Hays, but I don’t think his are as bad as Hays’.

And I think Santander is going to have a long steady stable career of 2-3WAR per season.

John Means is probably the choice based on current position, level of performance and remaining career.
