Odds of tonight’s game being rained out?

I’ve driven all the way down here from Indiana and I have to return tomorrow.

I really want to see this game tonight before I have to leave to head back home tomorrow morning, obviously.

What do you guys think, rained out or nah?

Rain is supposed to stop around 8 pm.   The field drains well.  There may be a delay for a few hours and the game may go late into the night but if it holds to the weather report they should get it in.  Bundle up its going to be cool.

Please tell me you drove here for more than just a baseball game.

If Nicole Sherry stays, "No go!" do the conspiracy theorists say two games on Saturday help the pitching concerns of the last place Orioles?  ?

Doesn't look too good based on what I see.... hopefully it blows through sooner but it almost definitely won't start on time.

When's your tee time?  Is the little one hitting wiffle balls yet?  Have come within one of shooting my now senior age (77) each of the last few years - can't finish!  Still carry for nine but I'm eroding!  Mazel Tov!

From the eastern shore. Visiting family and stayed at OC for the week. Hopefully catching the game tonight and heading back to Indiana in the morning.

The last time I tried to catch the orioles was at spring training last year and then COVID stopped those plans in their tracks.

Let's play two tomorrow!  27th man, Lowther gets to throw a Bumgarner no-no?  Zach Mattson with his first taste?

Only problem, that throws off Harvey's start in Queens ..... ⚾

Well, I really hope you get to the game tonight, but I’m glad you were able to get some other things done.   What’s Indiana, like a 9-10 hour drive from Baltimore depending where you are going?   I drove from DC to South Bend once and I think that’s about how long it took, but that was 39 years ago so my memory might be a tad off.

MY MAN.

Those first two questions are mutually exclusive, unfortunately. There are TWO little ones now, so my golf horizon is still dark.

I haven't played in probably two years.

Very occasionally I'll hit a few into the woods off of my mat, but you know... things erode. My swing is like an octopus falling out of a tree.

I just got away from it, because... stuff. But also because of work my shoulders are hamburger. I can't hit a ball out of my own shadow anymore.

Once you've been at "a level"... and then you're 4 or 5 levels lower, game loses it's appeal. I'd rather play Augusta on the computer.

    • With a previous post in this thread I highlighted a selection of notable or memorable comps for our current Orioles. Now I wonder what it would look like to compare our best roster (from that selected list, in order of WAR) with the corresponding squad of not-all-stars.   Without further ado, here's our team alongside its historic counterparts: LF    Norby        Eugenio Suarez CF    Mullins        Kevin Kiermaier RF    Cowser        Ken Singleton 1B    Mayo        Bill Melton 2B    Holliday    Arky Vaughan SS    Ortiz        Jose Pagan 3B    Henderson    Bill Madlock C    Ruthschman    Ted Simmons DH    Westburg    Robby Thompson     Bench    Mateo        Greg Gagne     SP1    Bradish        Justin Verlander SP2    Kremer        Johnny Cueto SP3    Rodriguez    Jose Berrios SP4    Povich        Jarrod Washburn     SP5    Irvin        Scott McGregor RP1    Pham        Jeff Samardzija RP2    McDermott    Steve Renko RP3    Vespi        Graeme Lloyd RP4    Baker        Matt Albers Closer    Bautista    Trevor Hoffman Oddly enough, it's the starting rotation that appears the strength of our team of doppelgangers.
    • Regarding Cooper, he was a fantastic pitching coach for a long time, but the game simply passed him by.  Near the end of his tenure, after a tough season Giolito actually went and worked with Ethan Katz (our current pitching coach and his former HS pitching coach) and he came back new and improved.  Katz also got a ton of credit for developing Cease and getting Rodon to finally tap into his potential. A year ago I would have been high on Katz, but last year was such a disaster that I’m not sure what to think.  It’s clear he’s got a much more modern take on pitching than Cooper, but I also think the org in general is so behind the times when it comes analytics & biometrics that there is only so much he can do.  We don’t have a single voice driving an org wide pitching philosophy (which is evident in our PD system) or much of a pitching lab to get the most out of guys.  Hopefully that will change for the better with the addition of Brian Bannister. All that being said, I don’t believe for a second we get all we can out of our guys.  Katz obviously helped Giolito, Cease, & Rodon improve but these were all elite prospects acquired from other orgs.  We still struggle to unlock the next tier of guys, although I blame that on broader organizational issues than purely Katz.
    • I love this.  Most fans that go to the game live within 45 minutes of the ballpark I would suspect.  The good thing is you can get home by 10:00 most evenings.
    • I selfishly don't like it, I'm a displaced fan in the central time zone.  5:30 weeknight start times are rough for me, the games are usually over before I get home from the office.  But they should make decisions based on the people who might actually go to the games.
    • That's something that can only be determined in hindsight.  Lots of options and lots of flexibility this offseason to really set the team up for the next 2-3 years.  I'm very curious to see how it plays out.  Checking my crystal ball, I don't see Aroldis Chapman anywhere on the program
    • I agree and I don't want him on the team.  But I'm not sure this specific moment is more critical than say, when he picked Gunnar Henderson in the second round.
    • Perhaps he looked and doesn’t have the dough to spend or wants to part with the asking price for Cease or 1 year of the other guys rumored available.
