May 14: Yankees back in town

Reading the recent comments it seems that I complain about Hyde’s use of the starters, everyone else complains about how he uses his relievers.

I came in late, and I also don’t know why he didn’t give Plutko another inning,  but I don’t have a particular complaint about not letting Kremer start the sixth. 77 pitches is plenty for now.

But  everyone has a legit complaint about SOME aspect of Hyde’s misuse of the pitching.

Just now, Ripken said:

Awful at bat after awful at bat.  Team chases everything.

In their defense, Kluber had some good stuff tonight. Sick change and good breaking stuff.

But yeah... Over and over and over, chasing pitcher's pitches.

The issue Hyde has is all the relievers are the same and the guys we thought would be the back end are Harvey who is on DL, Scott who can’t throw the ball over the plate, Armstrong who has been worse guy in the pen all year, Fry who has been good and might be the new closer, Valdez who has blown 3 saves.  It isn’t like the days of Brach, Oday, Britton and company where you knew if it got late you could count on them.

Fair point but Plutko was good. Why pull him? No need.

Just a guess...Plutko pitched Monday (24 pitches) and Wednesday (17 pitches).  Maybe he didn't want to overwork him or maybe he thought by keeping him to one inning he would be available tomorrow too?

I don't know, that's the best I can come up with.
