Mayo starting at 3rd. Gonzalez walked. Should probably be moved up to Delmarva.

Other game, you can follow on scoreboard but not pitch by pitch. https://www.milb.com/gameday/fcl-pirates-black-vs-fcl-orioles-orange/2021/06/28/657732#game_state=live,game_tab=boxscore,game=657732

When it’s a Monday at noon and I’m looking at FCL games I’m worrying myself...?

With about 25 players to enter the system via the draft in the next few weeks, I wonder if a lot of the international players will be relocated to the DSL once the influx occurs.   College players could contend for Delmarva or Aberdeen spots, but the high school draftees would likely bump players out of FL.   There are may be some intense competition among the international guys in the next couple of weeks to stay in FL.

Wow, it is radically different to see all those Latin American players on our GCL rosters!   Of course, part of the reason is that last year’s draft was only six rounds and this year’s draft isn’t happening until mid-July.  In any event I hope we identify a few standouts as the season plays out.

Orioles Black prevailed 6-1 today in a rain shortened game over the Twins affiliate.   Colby Mayo 1 for 3 with a double.   Pretty good offensive day overall with the Black rattling out 11 hits in only 6 innings.  Starter Jean Pinto 20 year old Venezuelan) struck out 6 in 4 IP, allowing 1 run on 2 hits and a walk.

By contrast, Orioles Orange got waxed 9-0.   No box score up yet.

Looks like most franchises only have one team in this league.   It appears of the 13 franchises who had a game today, 10 have only one team, while the O’s, Pirates and Tigers have two.

Edit: Orange box score now up.  Starter Conner Loeprich, on a rehab assignment, pitched three shutout innings, allowing only one hit and striking out three.   Dan Hammer, also on a rehab assignment, was the second pitcher entering the 4th inning and walked four batters while only recording two outs.   All four walks eventually scored.

Here is other box.

You could follow this game play by play and the box was up but not pitch by pitch like the game in Ft Myers.

Gonzales for Black had good first day. 2-3 with a walk. Was top player from 19 class.

The Twins FCL team plays in a stadium equipped with trackman. Coby Mayo had the hardest hit ball of the game! Luis Gonzalez who was our most expensive signing in 2019 got on base 3 times and threw out a baserunner from CF. Stiven Acevedo is a name that has popped up several times. He's 6'4 and still only 18 so he's for sure someone to keep an eye on. Pinto, Deson and De Leon were all Elias trade returns. Looks like Elio Prado and Noelberth Romero the return for Cashner, are on the other squad.  So awesome to see these guys stateside.

Acevedo was a top signee from Duquette’s final year.   I forget his exact bonus, but it was at or near the top from that O’s class.   He was very young when he signed and he was one of the younger players in the DSL in 2019.
