Will be interesting if Valdez shows anything like his 2020/April 2021 stuff. I agree, if he keeps getting hit hard this may be his last chance.

Yes - we can only hope that it was the back causing the "old man" issues.

I'm sure if Valdez pumps himself full of steroids it will improve his chances.

You don't need steroids to throw what he throws--Just impatient hitters calibrated to mid-90s stuff.

I figured since one you the comps you put out there was busted for steroids you were suggesting that as a possible path for Valdez.

Since he had "help" dealing with getting older.

If I were doing that I wouldn't have mentioned Stu. But you're right: I don't think Bartolo hits that home run without some extra help.

It will be interesting to watch, in any case. Stu Miller had a long career, as did Bartolo Colon, to mention two other slow-pitchers.

Colon did not start off with a slow FB.   He debuted in 1997 but the first year they kept velocity data was 2002, when he averaged 92.9.   It was probably higher before then.

Plus Colon’s best strikeout numbers were in the first part of his career with Cleveland averaging a 7.7 SO9 in a lower strikeout era.
