Why did we even talk to Burnes at all this offseason if 4/$100 million is out of our price range? -

This is a fair take. Saying that, I don't know Palmer well enough to know why he would or wouldn't have an axe to grind with Elias. I do know from past experience that sometimes juicy stuff comes at you from a source that you know is connected. Now there are comments in the piece that makes it more inflammatory than it needed to be in my opinion, and that is why I think some folks have taken more issue with it. Does Palmer have some axe to grind with Elias or did he get a well known source give him information? It's hard sometimes to not want to hold grudges, but I choose to take the high road. Despite the fact that under Elias my press credentials (that I had since 2001) and access was removed and I was treated like a fan the one year when I went to Sarasota after the draft to see some of the new players, I've tried to be fair in my assessments and not hold a grudge. Under Elias, it is very hard to get guys to respond to questions, even simple questions about minor league players. Even guys I had relationships with would suddenly go dark after years of answering questions and getting their thoughts on players. Seems weird, but hey, they need jobs and if talking to me or others could get them fired, I certainly would not want to be someone putting them in a difficult position. In the end, I still think everyone needs to take what they want out of this. I will say though, if you want to get an idea of who the source was, you may want to think about who has recently been let go and moved to other organizations. Who would know who was close to Hyde? Who would have insights into the inner workings and is no longer in the Orioles organization. I'm not going to point to anyone in particular, but I have my thoughts on who the source was and I'm betting that some of the information is pretty on point, but also some of it may be the emotions of someone let go. It goes back to what I was told one time about how silo'd the information was coming from the FO. That's just the way Elias chooses to operate. And when its all said and done, if it ends up with playoff series wins and an eventual World Series, who really cares how he operates? -

You’re spot on. You can see whole picture . I’ve been pounding the table for Burnes since AS break . I’ve seen Burnes’s performances, on and off the field , he should be the face of Orioles rotation . And signing Burnes would prove Uncle Dave’s WS proclamation and his signing would be statement that he means business, a new regime . -

You seem to have forgotten already, but we got bounced in the first round of the playoffs last year with Burnes and Santander, so saying we can't win without Burnes amd Santander comes across as pretty heckin' silly.
