"The House That Ruth Built" and interesting that they partly spell "BROOK' vice "BKLN".  Only two umps - home and bases? TO-MORROW?  Only 8 teams in each league so room for all on board.

C'mon, @bobmc!  The Browns were the Browns, the Orioles the Orioles, and they don't share anything.  All that ignominious history belongs to St. Louis. In 1939 the Orioles finished 68-85 under Rogers Hornsby, 21 games back of the Jersey City Giants.  

It was common at one point to have two umps, although I thought they'd gone to 3-4 by that era.  In the 1800s it was common to have just one, which led to all kinds of problems not only seeing the whole field at once but being overwhelmed and intimidated by players and fans.
