Gametime:  7:05 pm

Forecast:  72 degrees, partly cloudy

Roster Moves:  Orioles recall RHPs Marcos Diplan and Dusten Knight from Norfolk.  Orioles send Alexander Wells down to Norfolk and DFA Shaun Anderson.   The Anderson DFA, in addition to clearing a spot on the 26 man roster, makes room for one of the newcomers on the 40 man roster.   To make room for the other, Domingo Leyba, who was recently optioned to Norfolk, has been DFA'd.

Game Notes

  • Richie Martin getting the start at SS, with Ramon Urias at 2B.   A night off for Anthony Santander means DJ Stewart is playing RF.
  • As amazing as it seems, the Orioles are 4-2 in rubber match games this year (3rd game of a 3 game series where the first two games have been split)
  • The last series the Orioles won at Yankee Stadium was Brandon Hyde's first series as a manager in March 2019
  • Although their ERAs sum to over 10, the starting pitchers for these teams are on fire lately.   Jameson Taillon was the AL Pitcher of the Month for July, and Matt Harvey has been the best pitcher in baseball since the All Star Break.
  • The Orioles are 5-7 against the Yankees this year, giving them as many wins vs the Yankees this year as they had in 2019 (2-17) and 2020 (3-7) combined, with 7 games left including tonight.
  • The Orioles and Yankees have both played 106 games.  The Orioles have scored 440 runs in those 96 games, the Yankees have scored 439.
  • Cedric Mullins has a 12 game hitting streak.
  • After this game, the Orioles will have played 48 home games and 59 road games.  The remainder of the season will feature 33 out of 55 games at home.  Of course the Orioles home winning% is actually slightly worse than their road winning%.
