The Padres’ collapse

67-49 on August 10, and they’ve gone 11-31 since then.   They’ve pretty much been as bad as the Orioles (13-34) and worse than the Diamondbacks (15-29) in that period.  
 

Manny had an .878 OPS as of August 10 and only .757 since then (.899 in September), though he’s managed a respectable 7 HR and 25 RBI in that stretch.   Tatis was on the IL as of  August 10 and rejoined the team on August 15.   He had a 1.032 OPS before his IL stint, .858 since rejoining the team.   

Really, though, the pitching has been the culprit.  5.70 ERA in September.   

In any event, pretty ugly.

Yu Darvish has collapsed in the second half this year. 

Pre-All Star Break: 7-3 3.09 ERA; 105 IP; 125 SO; 13 HR; 1.000 WHIP

Post-All Star Break: 1-8 6.16 ERA; 61 IP; 74 SO; 15 HR; 1.255 WHIP

Bullpen has been a complete disaster area during the collapse.   Apparently they were used very heavily early in the season and it caught up with them.

I would pay at least double digits dollars for any MS Teams recording of any conversation between Dave Cameron and Buck Showalter regarding San Diego employment opportunities in the coming months.
