Pirates Claim Hanhold

Pirates have claimed Hanhold off waivers today.  Never saw the waiver wire announcement but it appears the O’s have started to clean house to free up 40 Man roster.  Wonder who else is on that list

Looks like Severino, Greene, and Diplan have been removed from the roster as well. All 3 outrighed to Norfolk before becoming free agents.

I never felt there was a debate.  They were never going to go to arbitration with him and no team was going to trade for him given his expected arbitration salary.  This was pretty much the only option unless they somehow came to an agreement with him on a low salary to avoid arbitration and I don't think Pedro would go for that knowing the catching landscape in Baltimore moving forward.

As a minor leaguer I believe he will become a minor league FA with more than  6 years of time since he originally signed.
