Shame Adley got hurt or I think he would be up as well.

Riley Green might have as well if he hadn't gotten hurt.   That was the talk, at least.

Torkelson .936 OPS

Witt 1.178

Rodriguez 1.309

Interesting because at least 1 team is gonna lose 1 year of control for a top prospect and get nothing out of it.

Not necessarily.   The top 3 in ROY and top 5 in MVP or Cy Young all earn their team a pick if they are on the OD roster.

So it's awesome and good for the game when other teams don't game service time but smart when the Orioles do.

I said it before, the teams that get the draft picks are going to come out better than the teams that make the play for the extra service time.

I don't like the service games at all.  I think they should never be used for a pitcher, and only rarely for truly elite positional talents.  With that said, being happy that those guys are starting OD and thinking it's good for the game, and saying that that probably isn't a smart move by those franchises (under the old system at least), are not mutually exclusive.  I am hopeful that the steps in the most recent CBA will help eliminate this.

What is smart for a team is not necessarily what’s good for the game as a whole.  And, what’s smart for a team that realistically can compete for a playoff spot may not be smart for a team that has no realistic shot at a playoff spot.   

That said, we’ll never know what the O’s would have done with Rutschman this spring if he’d been healthy.

Have heard reports this afternoon Phillies 3B Bryson Stott, Astros SS Jeremy Pena and Guardians C Bryan Lavastida also making OD rosters.

Lavastida was one of the guys helping Cleveland AA beat the Baysox last postseason.

Julio Rodriguez is already one of my favorite players.  He has a great attitude.

This guy could be the face of the game in due time.
