, and I thought maybe I was being a little too optimistic and hoping to make a splash signing or too in the upcoming off-season. You're ready to go now!

Pitching looks for real to me. We have Adley coming up and our OF and 1B appear set. The time is now IMO. Elias should be recognizing this. Start plugging some holes. 2B in particular but who knows whats available at 3B and even SS.

I was waiting to hear this from someone. Would have been hard to add better pitching. Infield is where the difference could have been made in theory.

Either way if this keeps up it does put pressure on them to make some moves.

First of all, yes the left side of the IF could be much better.

Secondly, the pitching won't hold up and they definitely could use another reliever too.

  • This team can be fun to watch but it still has "warts." Let's enjoy but not get too far out in space. Remember, most predicted a 60 to 70 win season.  One past manager said - and I paraphrase - you can tell what kind of team you have after the first 30 games. IF, (notice the BIG IF) the pitching stays consistent and the hitting dosen't regress to awful again, maybe!!!! Enjoy the ride but it's a little early for playoff tickets. I do think we are building toward much better and it is starting to show.

Of course it could.

The better they play this year the more pressure it puts on them to make moves next year.

The pressure is to get the young players up here and start to really see what you have and to give them the proper experience that they need.

Who other than Adley and Grayson is coming up soon?  Hall if he stays healthy will be up later.  Then who ? I don’t see anybody else this year. Gunnar is next year.

Adley should be up yesterday.  Grayson very soon.  Hall within a month or so.

Stowers should be up soon as well.  Diaz is a possibility.

No need to wait on Henderson until 2023 if he keeps this up.

Westburg can be up once he snaps out of his funk.

I don’t see Gunnar up here no matter how well he does this year.

Westburg is not hitting at AA.  He is more of a 23 option with his performance. If he was hitting like Gunnar that is different.

Stowers isn’t hitting and he and Diaz need space to play.

Are the O's turning around and going back around the corner?

Corners are tough to navigate sometimes.

That being said, I'm pretty sure that Spencer Watkins is not a key part of turning any corners. He is most likely to be removed from the rotation once GRod and Hall are ready.

Momentum is the next day's starting pitcher.

I can't blame Spenser Watkins for taking MLB paychecks anymore than I think B-Ref showing Hyde in the Bottom 25 all-time vs. 500 is much about him.    Some of getting actually good for 2023 and beyond will be improving depth and floor so that if another of our Shane Baz-John Means types need elbow surgery waaay below replacement level performers don't automatically become front-line mainstays.

Also probably not advisable to try a game with a de facto bench of one Anthony Bemboom.
