MLB draft combine

Being held this week at Petco Park in San Diego.  Started Wednesday, ends Saturday.  Coverage on MLB Network, which I don't have.

Figured I would start a thread for people to post about the combine. 

Most of top prospects will be there, but I noted Druw Jones and Green won't be there.  I would guess that Jones and Green are both going in top 3, so no upside in showing up.

Top prospects I did see just glancing at names listed: Berry, Johnson, Collier and DeLauter.  I was looking for a few top college pitchers' names, but didn't notice the ones I was looking for.  Top pitchers probably don't want to risk injury.  A 1st round pitcher has a lot more to lose than to gain.  The Berrerio (sp?) kid who skipped his HS playoffs will be there.

Termarr was just on set with Amsinger and Reynolds.

They did side-by-side video with Cano's swing, and discussed Jose Ramirez as a comp.   Ramirez obviously running insanely hot now, but from prospect days he was kind of under the radar.    Cleveland Player Development, I think of him as a big success as a Hit tool guy who was able to figure out how to get to Power, as perhaps Cowser 2022 is being trained.

Harold asked, "Why are you here?" and the gist of his answer was he loves baseball.   

He's a Top 5 candidate hunting 1-1.

Just watched an interview by Harold Reynolds and Greg Amsinger of Termarr Johnson, after having just watched Johnson take BP. 

What was his approach? Using all fields. What a nice swing, really quiet. Hit one EV 104. 

His answers to questions, in particular "why are you here?" showed just a deep love of the game, competing with top competition, just playing. They asked earlier in the day if he was going to take BP, he said, "Of course!" 

Cam Smith reminds me a lot of Manny Machado, all lean and lanky and smooth.

I missed the BP part!    It was nice to hear a week or three back he did a round at Camden.    I'd guess there Elias probably had some pro-caliber pitches put to him for at least a little info how he'd react to them.    

I'm kind of surprised Kumar Rocker isn't there.

By the way, am rewatching yesterday's measurement/performance segment, and it's really fun hearing Adam Jones with Alanna Rizzo describing what's like a "sports medicine class" in the words of Amsinger.

Twenty-seven of the 250 kids attending came through the RBI program.  Really glad to hear about this.

Mike Elias was there yesterday and was interviewed.
