7/7: Rutschman's First OPACY Homerun

I'm not a pro scout, so I'd like to hear anyone's opinions on this, but it seems like Rutschman's bat speed is much, much better swinging on the left side.  Is that accurate?  Looking at his splits it looks like they're keeping him away from lefties, but the sample size vs them is a bit too small to draw any sweeping conclusions.

Is he a natural right-Hander or left-hander?  I suppose right-handed since that is how he catches.

have there been any catchers who threw with their left hand?  Embarrassing question, but I cannot think of any.

Last one was in 1989.

I think that a there could legitimately be LH throwing catchers in today's game. In fact, they could be more efficient.  Think about it.  Over the course of a season a Catcher has many more throws to 1st base than 3rd base; the throw to 1st is easier for a LH C than a RH C.  It would also be easier and quicker for 1st base back picks. The only limitation is a LH throwing Catcher's throw to 3rd base. However, on the stolen base, I feel like the SB is usually made on the pitcher more than the C.  I also think a LH catcher would have a slight disadvantage on tag plays at home.

I think that if everything else was fine that there is no reason being a left handed thrower should stop someone from Catching.  Right now it's mostly inertia.

What we need is a talented left handed thrower that wants to catch to break down the barrier.
