2022 1st Round Pick (#1): Jackson Holliday, - SS - Stillwater HS (OK)

With the first overall selection in the 2022 draft, the Orioles select Jackson Holliday,  - SS -  Stillwater HS (OK).

Initial Take: Hard to argue with the pick even though Druw Jones was widely considered the best overall prospect in the class. Holliday looks about 12 years old, but his game is considered mature in almost every area and he hasn't even grown into his man strength yet. If he can realistically stick at SS (Elias says they think he can) then this pick makes a lot of sense since the system does not have a legitimate long-term SS prospect (Henderson is going to be better at 3B). He will always be compared to Jones, Termarr Johnson, and Elijiah Green who were the other top High School hitters available.

 I like Holliday's upside would have preferred Druw Jones, but at least it's not Brooks Lee which is a name that was getting suggested in the past few days.
