I'm interested in how he managed to seriously injure his shoulder in batting practice.

Good luck to Jones, I hope he avoids surgery.   Recall that Jordan Lawlar tore the labrum on his non-throwing shoulder in his first or second FCL game last year.  He bounced back well despite that initial setback.

Seems hard to do but I guess it happens.   I would guess it was his left shoulder.   Did they say?

He definitely has a California surfer vibe even though he is from Oklahoma.  Maybe his father is encouraging him to grow the hair out while he still can.  Seriously though he acquitted himself well for an 18 year old kid in front of a bunch of reporters.
