Yeah that was option but I think he thought he had better chance to run and get in line of the throw which might hit him.  It was very tough angle for Harrison to throw over him

Is it a mistake by Hays or the coaches? I've seen this happen enough times this season to think players are being instructed to go on contact in that situation.

My point is if the trail runner was already at 2nd. We never took free base.

3rd base Coach has no role in that play. None. That’s reaction or contact play.
