Miggi and D-Cab

For those who still care about this duo of Domincan ex-O's, they are both making some news in the Dominican League playoffs.

Tejada's Aguilas club, the defending champs, are off to a slow start in the post-season round robin, so Miggi told a newspaper he may suit up as soon as today to try to help them get rolling. He lives in Florida now, but he's already been back to the island and at the ballpark not long ago.

Meanwhile, Cabrera pitched only twice in the regular season for the current playoff leaders Licey. He got hit hard and didn't last long either time, then was inactive for a spell while his MRI's and contract details with the Nats got worked out. In any case, he's supposed to start his first playoff game tonight.

Will post some results when they become available.

(FWIW - Randor Bierd was activated for the playoffs and picked up a relief win last week)

Cabrera's defense let him down tonight, though he didn't do a whole lot to help himself.

A pair of errors (by LF Timo Perez & 2B Anderson Hernandez) led to three unearned runs in a 4-run second inning by the opposing Gigantes, and Cabrera departed after four innings with his team trailing 4-0. His line:

6 h

4 r

1 er

2 bb

1 k

He was relieved by former Oriole Jose Mercedes, who let the deficit increase to 5-0 before Licey started fighting back. They currently trail 5-3 in the 7th inning, so Daniel's still on the hook for a loss.

Former Oriole Jose Bautista, the if/of not the pitcher, is also in the Licey lineup tonight.
