In MLB's top 50, 49 of the 50 have a favorite to sign them.  The one prospect still supposedly looking is #10 18-year-old RHP from S Korea, Jun-Seok Shim. Is 6' 4", 215 lbs and reportedly touches 100 mph. Compared to a young Chan Ho Park. 

Wonder if he is a Perez/Elias target?

Not to derail the topic of this thread, but your comment made me think of the article I read in The Athletic today about Cionel Perez and his contract situation. Ol' Dan either liked to play it fast and loose with the contract rules or just didn't really know all the details. This is about Perez back when he was signing as an amateur and had his original deal with the Astros annulled due to a physical concern:

I hope we can eventually hit on one of these guys. If we sign Almeyda, would he be the highest ranked international signing? The Shim  pitcher would be an unbelievable signing. I would assume it would eat up most of our allotment and every other team wants him.

I don't know.  Maybe there is a GM out there that actively avoids pitchers in the draft and International market?

They might not be interested in him.

Eric Longenhagen has a list of top 33 international prospects up - nobody only the list is projected to go to the Orioles.  Almeyda isn’t listed.  Looks like almost every other team has a player on the list.  https://blogs.fangraphs.com/board-update-2023-international-amateur-prospects/

It's really hard to make these lists with any kind of accuracy, but it is a little surprising not to see the Orioles on this list. They've had plenty of time to build their presence now.

Saying all that, I'm not worried about these lists or whether the Orioles are on them or not. Let's see the class first before having concerns. 

I'd really like to see the Orioles take some chances on some top pitchers this year though. Regardless, let's see who we sign before getting too worried or happy.

The rumor is that Almeyda is signing for more than 2M and Longenhagen says that all 2M bonus players are automatically on his list.   
 

If he’s getting less than 2M then he is either omitted because Longenhagen doesn’t think he’s good or doesn’t have enough information on him.

Maybe the author can be asked.
