Looks to be near impossible to play today.

I just can’t see MLB making TOR play 2 games, 2 days before the playoffs start. And yes, I know Seattle has a DH today.

Well my near impossible doesn’t look so impossible. I was seeing a half inch plus starting this afternoon in Baltimore.

May be ok now. Similar to last night.

I'm in a 'screw those guys' type of mood.  Lets rain out the next two and force the BJ's to play a game on Thursday ahead of their series opener on Friday.  Its our last chance to create the 'chaos comin' the marketing team halfheartedly tried to push these last couple months.

Would the O's and the Jays both have to agree to play on Thursday? I'm not sure they would agree to it.

Now that it means nothing (Toronto clinched the #1 wild card last night)...it is not an issue.   Games are traditionally only made up the day after the season if they mean something.

Besides, the forecast is that it will be no longer raining by tomorrow afternoon.   As Eddie pointed out, it also seems like the rain in the window for the game tonight is now forecast to be very light and sporadic.   So they probably get this in tonight, and if they don't, they probably play a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon.   Toronto brings up some guy from AAA to be their 29th man and start and pitch 6 innings in one of the games if that happens, and maybe Kikuchi starts the other.

I was right about rainout initially, changed my mind but was wrong about DH tomorrow.

And it LOOKS like the rain will clear out by then.   I really wish I had more annual leave, if I did I would probably take the afternoon off and go.

I will be there for both. Suppose to play second game 30 minutes after first ends.

Got these awhile ago. Wanted to watch last game after this fun season.

I really thought they may not make Jays play two. I know they can call up another arm but still. I wonder if MLB consulted with Jays or not?

It's pretty standard in baseball that you make up all the games if you can do it in the footprint of the 162 game season.   You only make up games after the footprint (i.e. Thursday) if they affect the pennant race, which these don't.  So if they can't get two in tomorrow there won't be anything Thursday.

But that's how it's been done for as long as I can remember.

Toronto will start White in one of the games, he probably won't even be on their playoff roster, and bring up a 4A guy as the 29th guy to start the other.   Most of their regulars will play in only one of the two games.   And their top relievers maybe go one inning at most or maybe don't go at all.

We get to bring up a 29th guy too... hmmm, I wonder if Grayson has been keeping in shape after Norfolk's season ended over week ago.

I know but playoffs start Friday.

I don’t recall a playoff team ever playing 2 on the last day of season right before postseason.

My guess is TOR would rather have used their big pen arms tonight instead of tomorrow. I also think we will see them potentially at odd times just to get them work.  Score will be irrelevant to them.

Baumann and Watkins start tomorrow.

    • I think you'd see a much stronger correlation to how they were rated in the minors vs. draft position. Westburg has been treated similarly to Cowser and Kjerstad. Adley, Gunnar and Holliday were all consensus #1 prospects and have been given pretty much immediate every day player status.
    • Game ball or the equivalent of hockey star(s) of the game for me: Suarez — all of those zero’s on the road, gets my game ball. Kimbrel is my runner-up. I know striking out Trout with the bases loaded is the job, but it ain’t easy. Cowser - Honorable Mention. I’m still not 100 percent in on the Milkman nickname, but he sure is fun to watch.
    • Yeah - I was thinking Beavers could fill that spot, but it seems he is more suited for a corner outfield position, if he makes the bigs at all.
    • We have all this year and next if it’s needed.   No rush.  No hurry.
    • Kjesrtad was Elias's #1 pick in 2020 draft and #2 overall, so Elias saw something great in him.  Can you all imagine how powerful the O's will be if Holliday starts to hit and Kjerstadt hits like he did in the minors, Kjesrtad did good when he was called up in 2023.  They will be the Baltimore Bombers!
    • I'm not crushing Santander either, but he's a career .765 OPS guy. It was .797 last year. His only year over .800 was the Covid year. He plays average defense. Not a butcher, but not exactly rangy out there. Long story short, I think you can get similar power with more OBP from Kjerstad and Cowser with similar defense for Kjerstad and better for Cowser. So yes, I'd say they'll be better than Santander.
    • Can we get Buster Olney, talking heads, and various posters to look in the mirror for their ridiculing Elias' "hoarding" prospects? The strategy has always been about raising the competitive floor/ceiling while managing risk like a portfolio manager.  Seeking alpha while managing beta is the goal.  Sig's purpose is the quantify. And yet we still have people tossing out trade proposals and extensions and unhealthy FA pursuits because they know better and moving prospects to other positions.  It's fun to speculate but it's foolish to present it as an absolute.
