    • A little short on job title, but as a grateful longtime reader from back in the day, noticed this in Szymborski's chat today. SEA is one of those teams gotta fight past for AL top 6 in the shorter term. 1:06 Josh R: Noticed this in a transactions list :                                      Mariners Named Dave Cameron senior director, player procurement,                                                 Is this the former FanGraphs Dave Cameron?     1:06  Dan Szymborski: Yes     1:06  Dan Szymborski: (Sorry, was making sure he made it official or I couldn’t say anything)     1:06  Dan Szymborski:     Dave Cameron @OneDaveCameron     I should probably mention this now that it’s official. I get to do some really cool stuff for the @Mariners going forward. Quite a journey from @ussmariner (or asbs-m for us extra old people) to now. I couldn’t be more excited. Sincere thank you to all.
    • It'll be a bad year if the team's competitive situation doesn't put Elias or whoever to a possibly tough decision here. "Controlling the competitive environment" only gets publicized as a virtue for teams doing the stuff of Elias' first four years.     Teams like the Dodgers and Astros earn that privilege with their excellence - these Orioles aren't there yet. Grayson should pitch the 3rd or 4th game of the year, and pitch as well as he can for 20-ish turns.    Then see where we are.     Maybe we trade him then for Burnes and Woodruff and Devin Williams, Milwaukee can let him rest up for next year.
    • Its certainly possible Gunnar's home is shortstop.     The Orioles aren't going to say openly if they have intellectual capital like the cumulative wear and tear of manning SS is known precisely enough it'd be an inefficient use of Gunnar's joints (Royce Lewis' have taken some bumps), and that's why he didn't get to have an everyday SS job in the minor leagues. But they have to play somebody in the major leagues regularly next season, so any developmental guardrails will have to be taken off.     MLB teams seldom platoon shortstops - for me they are like quarterbacks, if you have two, you have none. I'm still on the Occam's razor of shortstops play shortstop (watching you Jackson Holliday in 2023), and almost every pro caliber position player on their Little League, high school, and A-ball teams is the shortstop.   They can't all be Cal Ripken or Ozzie Smith even though the confidence helping them to the Show tells them they probably are. Holliday and Carter Young will probably be teammates for some of 2023 - could be like the Westburg and Gunnar show all over again.
    • I certainly agree that if he follows typical patterns, he’ll have to do most of his damage in the first 4-5 years.   And as I said already, he would have to stay relatively healthy.  That’s often the problem with guys who decline steeply in the back half of their careers.  Judge has only had three fully healthy seasons.
    • Roxette had 4 BillBoard No. 1 hits?!  Who'd a thunk it.
    • They let Hall increase his IP by 65, but you think they’ll only let Grayson increase by 25-35?   I’ll be surprised if they’re that conservative.
