Teixeira Announcement at 1

Most of you probably know that Tex's signing will be announced today at 1. I can only wish that the Os come out with their own type of announcement, whether it be a Roberts trade or Markakis extension. I know this most likely won't happen, but would the best attempt for the O's to stick it to Tex. Maybe? Haha. No one will care, but it would be worth the try!

don't worry the O's will announce that they plan to sign nobody as usual and they have given Scott Erickson a invite to spring training, has Hendrickson been introduced yet or do they have to get the basketball hoop inside the yard first?

If I watch this particular Yanks' press conference, I may very well smash my head into my television set.

Well, at least my stomach will settle once it's over... only to get aggravated again April 6.

I know the game is on ESPN, but do you think the MASN telecast of the game will be able to use some high tech and blur Tex out anytime the camera pans toward first base or when he is at the plate? :P

-Don (will eventually get over this signing. Eventually.)

I think that we should petition MASN to employ such technology. Of course, if this was readily available or acceptable do you think Baltimore would still be aware a Colts franchise exists?

Can we move on from:

Texeira signing with the Yankees and not us;

Jeffrey Maier;

The Baltimore Colts leaving town;

Jack Cust;

John Stephens....

I mean, come on already, its all ancient history. ;)

What about Elway and Irsay?

It is ancient history, but it's still a good read!

Ummmm... another "Who really cares" on the books...

That is not what it means, I'm sure. But, the fact is Tex is a Yankee, nobody can change that and there is nothing anybody can do. We need to move on now. When, he comes to OPACY, I am going to buy tickets on the first base side and get ejected because I am going to let him have an ear full and I am sure PA will have his ushers eject me from the Stadium. I am trying to get tickets for a game tot he first serious starting April 6.

    • Agreed.  But that X post was by a CHW fan, so I'll allow it.
    • No one thought Burnes was an option.  I think pretty much everyone would have taken the Burns deal over the proposed Cease deals.
    • You'd have Mateo. I'd prefer to save him for pinch-running though.  Of course, I'd have just let O'Hearn hit. My suggestion was just for those who think the world would end if O'Hearn batted against a LHP.
    • Honestly, I could see the decision either way.  O’Hearn is a hot hitter historically vulnerable to lefties.   Hays historically hits lefties well but has been as cold as you can get.  He’s a significant defensive upgrade to O’Hearn for the rest of the game.  So what do you do? If my only concern was to maximize the chance to win today’s game, I’d probably stick with O’Hearn, for a reason not mentioned yet.  This was the leadoff batter in the 7th inning, and if anyone gets on base the next three innings, that means the batter will get one more AB after the one in the 7th inning, and decent chance that AB will be against a RHP.   So, that favors leaving O’Hearn in. At the same time, I don’t believe that maximizing the chance to win this game was the only consideration.  Simply put, Hyde wants to keep Hays involved in things, and wants to give him opportunities to break out of his slump.  And that’s important for the long term benefit of the team.   So, as I see it, it’s a close call, and I wouldn’t criticize Hyde either way.  We won the game so I’m certainly not going to obsess about it.
    • Remember when we used to be on the other side of this ledger? How easy some forget. We don’t have to put others down to prop ourselves up. I hope we don’t become that annoying/arrogant fanbase who likes to run others’ noses in it.
    • Probably as tough a night as Bradish's yesterday was encouraging.   I think it'll be found some persistent aspect of the injury he's now rehabbing is somehow at the root of this ineffectiveness....otherwise I'm not sure what happens when the rehab assignment clock runs out.
    • Enos and Brit were talking about Lindor's slow start recently.  As part of the discussion Enos said that players tend to swing less in the first month and pitchers can rake advantage of that.  I wonder if the Sigbot is arbitraging that with more aggressive PAs?
