The Orioles are trying to better their team. You look at all possibilities. If they keep all three and plan on playing all three, then what is best for the TEAM? Is it Mateo SS, Gunnar 3B, Urias at 2B or is Urias 3B, Gunnar SS, and Mateo at 2B? Both Urias and Mateo have done it for one year and other teams quit on them. Are they going to play at that level or better each year? Who knows! I trust Mike Elias on making the decision. I really could care less which way he goes as long as we are improving!

Lets get some stud pitchers and I might give you a shot Oriole22 at an infield spot!

I don't have the range for anything but first base. I agree we need to add a couple of starters. There is just no scenario I see where Mateo plays anything but short, for us or someone else. He's too good to move and weaken that spot. I didn't like Gunnar at all at second. I think he has to play third. There's no reason to move him to short anyway with Holliday. I think we get the best out of Mateo the next two years and turn it over to Holliday in 25.

Btw, I’m good with trading both of these guys and signing Brian Anderson if he can be had on the cheap.

He has been a very good player in the past.  Good defense, solid OBP guy.

If these guys represent higher value and you can optimize that and then replace them with Anderson, I think that’s a pretty solid deal for us.  Anderson because a uti guy and an insurance policy for the young kids.

If we don't have confidence in the future we should probably keep one of Urias/Mateo. If we do have confidence in the future (which I do) then there is no need for Anderson. He'd be OK to have around in the Tyler Nevin role but he's irrelevant to what we do for infield.

Nationals put $5m on Candelario, a good break I think as that's the verboten trade team, and it takes a Urias ballpark type off the list for Clubs where a player that level can start.

The White Sox ZiPS ran today, and they have their traditional hole at 2B (where even if Urias not Gold Glove there still probably better than what they have), as well as in the OF for maybe Santander or Hays.

Both the Tigers and White Sox have some nice relievers, presuming the basis of any trade is all of BAL-CHW-DET trying for 6th place or better.
