Wow... the Terps have given up two TDs and two 2-pt conversions and haven't scored yet. And unfortunately it's basketball not football

This is a totally different team than the one I watched in November

The end product is unwatchable.  There are a ton of reasons why this is a dysfunctional offensive team but to be unable to muster 18 points in three consecutive games against decent (not cupcakes) is distressing.  I want to give Willard the benefit of doubt but to run a 4 and 1 motion with this roster (lack of outside shooting) and stay with it is head scratching.  I didn't see them play yesterday but to only score two 2 point FG's in the first half against TN, and now 13 points  was mind blowing.  I know their offense is predicating upon stretching the floor not to adjust bearing in mind their defense is predicated upon pressure after a bucket-again confusing.

I am really starting to believe MD football and basketball have played themselves into irrelevancy.  The telling point for me was the viewership numbers after the TN game, MD women outdrew the men-but frankly it is a much more watchable product.

I'm willing to give Willard much more time, perhaps recruit a class or two before sounding any alarm. But it sure is disappointing to feel like (once again) we already know the Terps will not be dancing

Not so fast there buddy. 3 straight wins at home, including a convincing one over 21 ranked Indiana. Would think with their remaining schedule, they're in.

Just a different team at home. Maybe it goes back to the ball thing.

No.... you hold on there buddy.  🙂

My comment was certainly valid on Jan 2. They were playing like crap, and I'm glad that they have turned things around.

Terps lost tonight but they played tough just couldn't hit water if they fell out of the boat from the 3-point line.

This team is so much better coached but Izzo outcoached Willard a bit the last minute if the game allowing clank Reese to be open so they could foul him and put him on the free throw line. A bit of a knucklehead moment for Young allowed his man to be open after they did such a great job of covering on the inbounds late then Young missed a FT that he needs to knock down.

Disappointing to not being able to go the road to win, but this team has been a terrible road team all year. When you catch a Michigan St down a bit you have to take advantage, but unfortunately they came out flat (down 15-0) then weren't up to the task when the pressure was on late.

The future is not this year and we'll need a few seasons to see whether it's a Williard preparation issue with the poor road play of this team (ice cold start is inexcusable besides the moment just being too big for his players or poor game preparation), but I love Williard's offense.

Problem is they're losing everyone after this season so gonna have to reload.

This team would be very legit but just awful on the road and really poor from three. I wish they'd just stop taking so many damn threes as when they're off they're just doomed. Hard to believe they clawed back going 3 for 22 on 3s.

Feel like they're way more enjoyable than Turgeon teams so can't really complain.

This is where I'm at honestly. It's a more fun team to watch because they are not a turnover machine and tend to make pretty good decisions.

Julian Reese should come back, right? I think they have a decent recruiting class coming in, and I would imagine they should get some guys in the portal because playing time will be available.

They have 3, 4-Star players so far and are in the running for a 4-5 Star center (6-10, 245) with a 50-50 shot last I read. While the PG is a senior he could come back for another year per COVID rules, Hart as well I believe but who knows. They are more fun to watch play.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them pick up a transfer or two as well.

I have really never seen such a bipolar team as MD when it comes to home and away. I don't know if it's a poor away routine by Williard, a group of players that have issues flying, or just players who can't handle away crowds. I've never seen anything like it honestly.

This team is a sweet 16 team at home and AAU level team on the road. At this point, no use even watching them when they are on the road. They are awful there.

    • Most teams put their best defender at SS, not 3B.   Henderson is the most talented infielder on the team.  2B is probably the best spot for Holliday.   The Orioles may or may not be comfortable with Mayos defense at 3B.  Pretty sure they are comfortable with Westburg and Urias over there.   Teams don't generally rearrange their best middle infield defense so they can put their best guy at 3B.
    • Or they are confident he will be back and they can weather the storm.
    • It must be so demoralizing for a player to put in the hard work and have the type of Spring that Stowers has had to know that there are people saying that your best value to an organization is to be good enough to be traded from that organization.  These players have got to have thick skin,  especially those that haven't got a big contract yet and don't know if they are ever going to make a regular MLB roster.   Tough business.
    • I think they can matter but not at face value. Veteran pitchers are going to be tuning their pitches more than trying to get guys out. But young players without a guaranteed spot will at least be trying to showcase their skills and make the team. Stowers' 7 HRs are somewhat relevant in my eyes. That is such an outlier number that I imagine it has to move the needle a bit, especially with two in the last game being against a big league veteran. I don't put much stock in Jackson Holliday's spring training OPS. He got a gift triple, and his one success vs a lefty was against the third fastball in a row from one of said veteran pitchers who was probably just working on his fastball that inning, so I think it's probably a bit inflated. Though for all I know, he got unlucky in the ABs that didn't make the news. I imagine the front office has access to more useful numbers than what we see, taking into account the pitchers they faced, the set of pitches they faced, etc. Those numbers are more likely to be used to make a roster decision.
    • If that no option waiver claim is liked by Elias as much as they liked Coloumbe last year.  It really just depends who is out that and DFA’d at the end of ST and before OD. I think Krook and Ort were pretty good gets already.
