I saw that, anyone have more info?  I've found it impossible to get my 7 year old any good autographs, but thought some of the meet and greet with "no autographs" may have a better chance than standing in an excessive line.  Anyone know if a 7 year old goes and shakes the players hand, would they sign him a ball/card?

That really depends on how many other people are around, the player and who is escorting the player if anyone and time constraints. Sorry but that is a tough question to answer  I worked a few Fanfests years back and some players would sign an autograph or two walking from a photo session to an autograph session or from doing bingo to a fan q and  a. Also this is more of an enclosed area as opposed to the Convention Center.

By far the best way to get autographs from pitchers/catchers is during BP and warmups go down the first base line (watch for foul balls), players will not only sign but often give balls and interact with young kids.  My son has many where you can actually see the fingerprints from a repeated four seem grip.  Work your way to closer to the dugout for position players, the ushers will let you down during warmups.  Hope this helps!!

Good point, if you want a ball your best bet is to rent a small child to ask for you.

With the crime rate in the city, many still scared of COVID (lots of masks still), incredibly high inflation taking much of the middle class spending money, it sadly makes sense why they aren't having it.

1.  Crime near the Convention Center in the middle of the day with 10,000 people around?   Not much of a concern.

2.  COVID doesn’t seem to be stopping anyone.   I went to a hockey game about two weeks ago, 19,000 people there, and I was about the only person wearing a mask.

3.  Admission cost $10 last time they had it - and free for season ticket holders, who were probably a big proportion of the crowd.

I’m not saying these factors have zero impact, but I think they’re pretty minimal.  I think business management just doesn’t think they get enough bang for the buck.  I think they’re wrong, but that’s just my opinion.

I've got the small child part down :) He wants autographs though, and we normally go to sunday games since he's younger, but there's no BP.  The guys don't even come out until 20 min before game time, and typically don't sign, so we've gotten plenty of balls near the BP, but no autographs.

When you get autographs, are they typically not sunday games?  And while BP is ongoing or in the 20 min while they run/stretch?

1. You would think but I think your missing the preceded reputation. I know plenty of people who will not go downtown. Period.

2. If that was a Caps game, I don't believe it. I see it on TV every time they are on.

3. If $10 I think that would be help in the financial aspect.

If your thoughts is the case, this organization is pretty damn sad. This is for the kids and certainly not about making money. Of course, when EVERYONE within the product itself is all about making money, despite the effect, I guess it's expected.

I don’t expect the O’s to do anything that isn’t calculated to make them money.  That’s not an insult, that’s just business.  When it comes to Fanfest, the objective is (1) to get the adult fanbase excited and primed for the upcoming season to encourage ticket sales, and (2) to get the younger generation interested in following baseball and the Orioles, so they’ll want to go to games and follow them on TV.  From my point of view, Fanfest was very good at both those things.   But the O’s may feel otherwise.

Be nice if they opened the gates more then an hour before gametime Maybe this year. The Orioles players used to sign down the first base line before every game,Covid sort of stopped that ritual. Most of the players who signed were not the stars .Also you needed to get in the first row or second at worst. The players did look for the kids and not the adults

That better change. Was 2 hours before games for season holders, 1.5 hours for everyone else. Eutaw street I think opened 2 hours before. Heaven forbid if the kids get a chance to see Adley and Gunnar take BP.

Someone who works at the ballpark last year told me he expected it to change. I’ll believe it when I see it.

    • There’s another accomplishment from 1983 I’d like to match.
    • I'm more of a Prime Number guy, I'm happy enough with 89. Round numbers are for suckers.   Pretty disheartening they haven't managed to reach that relatively meager goal in 40 years.
    • Still with a chance to do this for the first time since 1982-83. Would be one more nice accomplishment for this organization.
    • The weird thing about our bullpen is that they rarely blow leads.   They have a 69% save rate, 4th highest in baseball.  They make it scary, but generally, when they have the lead, they get the job done.   Where they are really bad is keeping games close when we’re down a run or two, last night being a classic example of that.   This year’s team has 32 comeback wins, compared to 48 last year.   Why is that?   Part of it is obviously on the offense, but part of it is that the bullpen doesn’t keep us in striking distance when we’re behind.   One way you can tell this is by the W/L records of the starters and the bullpen.  Last year, the starters were 57-40, this year they’re 60-49.   The starter got the decision 12 more times this year than last year, including 9 more losses (with 3 games to play).   That tells you that when the team is losing when the starter is pulled, they keep losing.  Meanwhile, the relievers were 44-21 last year, 28-22 now. They’re not picking up wins because they don’t give the offense a chance to catch up and get the win for the bullpen guy.
    • I do not disagree with above posts.  Also I am pretty sure that this time last season, the Texas Rangers Hangout was saying the exact same things as the Rangers Pen.  Point being, you never know until you know.  The pen is shaky, but is capable of putting together a solid run from time to time.
    • Roster Resource thinks it has tonight's lineup and Kjerstad on bench again. He is 7 AB shy of 130 MLB regular season AB with 3 games left, and if he ends up short some prospect list makers may still label him one.    If still with the Orioles, he will be 26 years old by Sarasota. I think the OP has its answer as it has been Cole and Lopez these two nights and the team is preparing for that intensity.
    • I care I bet the over on 88 wins, looked like a lock now not so much, come on O’s, daddy needs some new shoes
