Probably. Nothing wrong with that, it just appears to be who he is. IMO it's what the stuff/talent profile as.

I agree that there is nothing wrong with that. I personally had higher expectations for him with the K numbers in the minors. He seems to be prone to giving up the homerun (but so is Tyler Wells). Perhaps there's some room still for improvement but the O's could do worse than Dean Kremer as their fifth starter if that's ultimately who he is as a player.

I don't see dominant stuff when I look at Kremer. He doesn't have elite velo, secondaries, or command. That says to me back end starter, which again IMO is ok.

I think Kremer is a good 4th starter at best.  That's nothing to sneeze at, but I don't really want him in the playoff rotation.

To your point, his cutter is getting hammered. Against his cutter, batters are hitting .302 with a .603 SLG. The cutter is his second most used pitch. It was a much better pitch for him last year (.259 BAA, .356 SLG). I like Kremer and think that he can still improve (not to the top of the rotation, but just to be a better back end option) particularly when I see him throw a 97 mph fastball. If he could find better command of the cutter, that would be a good place to start.

He sits 94.8 mph and gets it up to 97.  I agree that isn't quite elite but it is 32/108 among all major league starters which is the highest among the Orioles starters.

??? ... Does that equate to dominant/elite stuff?

When you look at Kremer and watch him pitch do you say to yourself, "he has incredible talent" or wonder why he is not more successful? I can see doing that with Grayson because IMO he has all the talent in the world to be a frontline pitcher, he just lacks command. I just don't see that with Kremer at all.

That was a great performance.  Hopefully it carries over to the next start.

All-Star break will give him maybe 10 days to gas back up.

It will be interesting to see where they peg Gibson, looking pretty clearly 4th best, opening up the second half.

All of them may get some extra rope the rest of this week.

That man's hair is glorious. Is Dean Kremer in a rock band or something? I notice he wears that same t-shirt every post game interview after his start.

Tonight's performance was exactly the show the orioles needed to see, and the perfect time!
