If you are comparing catchers I think you should just be looking at what they do at catcher.

Sure, but he's literally only a C when he plays defense. Even Gunnar can claim 2 positions (where he has a premium bat at both), so I'm not sure why you'd try to dilute what he's done by looking at his offensive output only when he's catching. Feels like an agenda thing.

I've never shown any bias against him.

Not sure why'd I have an agenda now.

I just think it's useful data and yes, to answer another poster I can certainly look it up myself.  I was just curious what the data set being presented to me was being pulled from, which seemed, dare a say reasonable?

Also keep in mind that if you ware talking about counting stats, which you are, if he has 100 more Plate Appearances I think that is something worth noting.

Among qualified ML catchers Adley is 3rd in Batting Average, 1st in OBP, 4th in OPS, 1st in BB, tied for 3rd in HR and 4thin 2Bs. That's not too shabby.

There's only 10 qualified catchers and Adley has 85 more plate appearances than anyone else.

I didn't mean for my post to sound confrontational, even with the agenda comment. Just not sure why it matters. For me, I couldn't care less. He's a catcher, period. We happen to have 2 good catchers, so they both get to DH regularly, which I think is a credit to our organization strategically.

If he was a C and a 1bman, I could totally see why there might be a discussion. His bat would be valuable as a C and not so much at 1b. But with the way teams are using the DH spot to rotate guys through and rest players, I think the days of the David Ortiz pure DH with a lethal bat are mostly over. So if Adley is only an average or slightly below average DH, oh well. The rest is more important.

Mostly it's the counting stat thing.  If you want to mention him being first in OBP, then it wouldn't have made a difference to me.  You throw in total number of doubles, well to me it makes a difference if he's got 100 more at bats.  To me that fact that he's getting additional opportunities is worth noting.

Fine if it isn't for you.

Okay, so it's the extra PAs as a DH. Got it. That makes sense. Maybe I didn't read far enough back in the thread to get that part.

Adley’s had a nice week - .417/.444/.750 in his last six games.  Hopefully he can continue to finish strong.

The .750 is slugging, correct?

Yeah, almost on cue he has 1 HR and 7 2B (and counting) in the last 7 games. Should help the ISO a bit. 31 2B on the season.

And Adley did not have to think about it when he said Team Win.      It is no accident that the Orioles turned the Franchise completely around upon his arrival.  I do not know if anyone else in Baseball has SO CLEARLY done that.  Yes, he is the Best, and even the Best of the Best.
